Newspaper gifts

The Editor loves a freebie with his morning paper but things are getting pretty desperate in newspaper land.

Not long ago every national newspaper was cutting each other's throats with free CDs, free DVDS, free lunch at Greggs or whatever.

Those days are long gone unfortunately. It is no secret that the giveaways were costing each title a small fortune and the joke used to be that the day would come when you got a free newspaper when you bought a CD.

With the credit crunch in full flow, advertising revenue down across the board and job cuts affecting just about every title it was inevitable that freebies would be the first to go with newspaper focusing on promoting their content rather than what they can give away.

It was with all that in mind that I went in pursuit of find the best freebie giveaway with today's newspapers and it came down to this ...
